Walmart Marketplace- Seller Academy Certification Course

While I’m unable to share the live course (as it’s accessible only to Marketplace sellers), I can walk through the creation process:

Need:
Walmart Marketplace needed a structured certification program to help sellers understand how to use key tools and strategies to improve performance, visibility, and sales on Walmart.com. The goal was to create a scalable learning experience aligned with Walmart’s KPIs that empowered sellers to take data-driven actions and achieve measurable results.

Solution:
The certification launched in two phases. Phase 1 introduced foundational topics such as getting started on Walmart Marketplace, listing products, pricing tools, and shipping and fulfillment. Phase 2 built on this foundation, expanding into performance-focused learning that reinforced seller success metrics and helped learners connect daily actions to Walmart’s broader KPIs.

How I Contributed:
In Phase 1, I worked from an existing curriculum outline to create detailed storyboards, mockups, scripts, and written content for the certification course, ensuring alignment with Walmart’s KPIs and the Seller Education Marketplace Learn style guide. In Phase 2, I led the instructional design strategy, creating the course outline, meeting with SMEs to validate content, and writing new activities, storyboards, and scripts for video production. I collaborated with cross-functional teams and a third-party vendor to ensure all materials were accurate, consistent, and accessible across both launches.

The section below shows what sellers experience after selecting “Start Course” on Walmart Marketplace Learn. This page serves as the course landing page, designed to provide a clear and intuitive learning experience. A side panel lists all lessons within the course for easy navigation, and a banner with a Sign In link ensures quick access. As users scroll, they encounter clearly defined course objectives, learning outcomes, and lesson titles with estimated completion times to support time management and goal tracking. Accessibility features are integrated to inform sellers that the course includes both audio and visual components, along with a reminder that they must be logged in as Marketplace Sellers to begin.

This section shows what sellers see when they click “Academy NEW” on Walmart Marketplace Learn. It features a short video introducing the Seller Academy and the Certification courses. Below the video, four course tiles are displayed, each with a Start Course link. Sellers can click anywhere on a tile to open and begin the course.

Walmart Marketplace: Seller Academy Learning Videos

To address seller confusion around the UPC exemption process, I developed a content strategy focused on clarity, accuracy, and usability. I first met with subject matter experts (SMEs) and analyzed the end-to-end workflow in Walmart’s internal seller platform to identify key pain points. From there, I broke the process into concise, actionable steps and designed a video walkthrough that mirrored the real seller experience.

I storyboarded the video, captured UI screenshots, and provided detailed visual and instructional direction to the production vendor to ensure consistency and accessibility. After iterative reviews, I approved the final version for deployment, delivering a clear, step-by-step learning experience that reduced support requests and improved seller self-sufficiency.

The goal of this video was to help sellers understand how Walmart’s Sales Rewards and Attribution tools measure performance and link sales results to specific actions. I focused on simplifying complex data concepts through storytelling and clear visuals.

To build the strategy, I first met with SMEs to understand the tools’ purpose and user pain points. From there, I mapped the seller journey to decide which steps and screens would be most valuable to highlight. I structured the content as a guided walkthrough showing how sellers can view metrics, interpret results, and use insights to drive better performance. Each scene was planned to connect action to outcome, helping sellers see why these tools matter, not just how to use them. The tone, structure, and formatting followed the Seller Education Marketplace Learn style guide to ensure consistency and accessibility across all learning experiences.
